Dave Norman

Dave has been running since the age of 13 when he joined Altrincham & District Athletic Club. Dave was inspired to take up the sport after growing up watching his father Jeff competing.

Jeff had competed for Great Britain in the 1976 Olympic Marathon and has a lifetime marathon best of 2:12:50, but Dave’s most vivid memories of his father are his six successive victories in the Snowdonia Marathon for which he still holds the course record.

Dave is a well known face on the UK running circuit with several top 20 National Cross Country finishes and sub 30min 10k clockings to his name, but is possibly equally well known for some of the high quality races he has organised, most notably the Trafford 10k. More recently, he has become well known for the RunningLive Facebook page, providing live video streaming of races.

He considers the Marathon to be his best event and has a lifetime best of 2:18:34 set in 2004, as well as a top 15 finish in the London Marathon in 2010. His greatest marathon successes were arguably winning the 2012 and 2013 Greater Manchester Marathon.

He has competed internationally at the marathon, cross country and mountain running. His brother Andy also competes, and like Dave boasts sub 30min 10k and sub 50min 10 mile times.

Dave now continues to compete in the veterans category, and has a particular liking for the National Cross Country Championships, which he has not missed since 1997.
